According to US This is one of my favorite songs on the record. “Down” is upbeat and danceable. It also showcases Rick’s still incredible vocals. The song is as good as, or dare I say better than any of Rick’s past hits. “Down” reminds me a lot of the many quality songs from the “Venus in Overdrive” CD. Why “Down” wasn’t a huge radio hit is beyond me. Yes, it’s that good. And there’s an official music video for this song! For someone like me who fell in love with Rick’s many past videos (think M-TV), this is such a treat to watch. Rick looks happy and healthy, standing on the edge of a cliff above the water. It’s a full band video, which is also nice to see. Although it’s a simple video, Rick looks like he’s having the time of his life just singing and playing the guitar by the water.
