Saint Sahara
(Rick Springfield/Matt Bissonette)
Come on, Close the book, turn out the light
Put your plans aside tonight
Yea, I know it's not wrong, but it sure isn't right
An Angel bids a last goodnight to us
Come on Sahara
Give us a smile
You've walked this far with us
Let's walk one more mile
Hey Saint Sahara, beautiful child
You left us all wanting
You left us beguiled
My my my, my my my
My my my, my my my
You take your solace
Where you find it
Dress the wound
And tightly bind it
You so want the past
But you can't rewind it
And she sleeps with angels tonight
Come on Sahara
Give us that smile
You've walked this far with us
Let's walk one more mile
Hey Saint Sahara, beautiful child
I know that you heard it
The call of the wild
My my my, my my my
My my my, my my my
My my my, my my my
My my my, my my my
In the sun I am warm again
Complete and born again
To her I'm sworn again
(sworn again, sworn again)
Come on Sahara
Give us that smile
You've walked this far with us
Let's walk one more mile
Hey Saint Sahara, beautiful child
You played your best hand but
The joker was wild
My my my, my my my
Come on Sahara
My my my, my my my
Hey Saint Sahara
My my my, my my my
Come on Sahara
My my my, my my my
Hey Saint Sahara
Come on Sahara
Fought the good fight
Baby let go, everything is alright
Come on Sahara
Hey Saint Sahara
Hey Saint Sahara
Yea, Come on Sahara
Beautiful Child....

Rick explains that "Saint Sahara" "is about who Sahara was and how hard it was to have her leave. It's also a celebration and recognition of the people she affected in this world. Her mom said (before she died) that if I were to write a song about her daughter, could I make it a celebration and not something maudlin, so it's basically a song celebrating her great spirit

Rick Says: [Nothing is ever Lost] we lead the song
into Saint Sahara which is the last song on the record because we certainly had
in mind Sahara dying when we wrote Nothing is Ever Lost. For me, for all
of us really it was like loosing one of our own, she was so close to all of us -

According to US
I knew Rick would write and record a song in honor of Sahara and I admire him greatly for that.
I love the lyrics and what they mean. The music is good and I like the way he sings it with such great passion. The children screaming and playing in the background give it that special little touch that puts more meaning in it that it was written about and for a youngster. You can’t help but know that Rick wrote it with much love and sadness in his
heart. - Amy L
