Ricktopia Interviews

Tina Walsh

How has performing in EFX Alive evolved for you?

As you know, I originated the characters Morgana and Bess Houdini with Michael Crawford in 1995 and left in '96 , then returned in '98 with Tommy Tune and I have been here ever since. Every version has been different for me including costumes and makeup. I much prefer the Rick Springfield version hands down and I'm not just saying that because this is the Ricktopia website. From the new script changes to the new song "Forever" that Rick wrote, it has been a constant challenge and I enjoy that! I believe the audience seems to enjoy this version so much better as well.

What is your best memory of being in the show to date?

Well, I have to say my first memory would be opening night when I was in my dressing room getting ready. The show had already started and the second Rick began to sing " Rhythm of the Beat" the crowd went wild!!! I mean wild!!! That gave me goose bumps!! There have been many more great and some very funny moments that have happened on stage between Rick and I but I have to say this was my first "best" moment.

If you could perform with anyone on stage or in film or on TV who would it be and why?

Well since you asked, working with Rick on stage has been great! I think we really work well together. To work with Rick on another project together such as a film or TV show would be in my opinion Fabulous!

Robin Williams would be another person I would love to work with even though I know he would run rings around me. I think he's brilliant!

Anthony Hopkins is another actor that I greatly admire and to work with him, well, that would be unbeliveable. But he'd probably chew me up and spit me out!

How does the show differ when Rick does not perform the lead?

Well, that's easy! It's the Sal Salangsang Show!

Do you have any quotes you live by?

"Patience is a virtue"... I think everyone can relate to this. Patience is not an easy task to master, it tests you everyday. But when we have patience everything seems to come to us. Funny isn't it?

What's your favorite Rick Springfield song?

"Human Touch"... Loved it then and love it now. Also I like Rick's Karma CD - "It's Always Something," "Shock to my System" and "Karma".

What is your biggest daily challenge?

Being a good mother, a good person, a good friend!

If not Las Vegas and EFX Alive...I would be...

WOW! It's hard to say, considering I believe in fate playing a big part of my life. I guess I would have to say I would be in another show in either New York City or Los Angeles. I don't know!!! What do you think?

Cup half empty or half full?

Always half full! Working towards "Filling it to the top, please!!"

Morning person or night owl?

Night owl!! Most of the time!!!

Do you Yahoo?

No, I'm afraid not.

9/11/01 - How has it changed you and the things you do?

My emotions come to the top more often than not. I contemplate more frequently about the things I do or the plans I make. I am a lot more aware of my surroundings when I'm out in public and I am more suspicious and less trusting of others. But that does not mean that I stop living life. I have to believe in a brighter future not just for myself but for my son's future as well. Here's to a brighter future!!!
